From the Publisher: Bon Courage
Parting words from Emerald Coast Magazine

This issue is dedicated to the celebration of the Best of the Emerald Coast. It’s a moment to pause and honor 178 businesses and experts in our community that enhance our lives here on the Emerald Coast. The care, thoughtfulness, and creativity poured into their craft is clearly felt. It is an exchange of energy and love.
I have previously shared my thoughts on the singularity of our community is its people, and this issue also marks a time to honor the Emerald Coast Magazine brand. We were the first high-gloss lifestyle magazine in the Emerald Coast, and for almost 30 years, our commitment to excellence and integrity has been at the forefront of all our decisions. We pride ourselves in educating, supporting, and inspiring the region we serve.
This October-November issue is the conclusion of our journey as that steward to our community, and it has been one of my life’s honors to serve as your publisher. For a little over 21 years, this industry has gifted me the pleasure to serve, learn, and meet incredible people. From the readers, advertisers, and community partners to our incredibly talented staff, it’s a time of looking back for me and knowing the work we have done will alchemize into something even greater to come.
The word “liminal” comes to mind at a time like this. It’s the space between what has been and what is still becoming, a threshold where the old falls away and the next chapter is not yet fully revealed. There is something magical about this space, where so much remains unknown and anything still feels possible.
On behalf of the entire staff at Emerald Coast Magazine, we thank you. Thank you for all the years of support, love, and connection. Congratulations to our 2026 winners of the Best of the Emerald Coast.
I encourage and challenge everyone reading this letter to use this moment as an opportunity to step up and step out. Carry on with the spirit this magazine exuded. Share stories, connect with one another, and be the bridge of hope, resilience, and love that we all need. May you continue our mission, as will I.
Much love,
McKenzie Burleigh, Publisher
