Swinging for Success
Field of Dreams event, named for Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine, raises over $100,000 for the Seaside School Foundation

If you host it, they will come. Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Glavine, his wife Chris Glavine, and the Seaside School Foundation, Inc., teamed up to host the fourth annual Tom Glavine’s Field of Dreams Charity Golf Outing.
The sold-out event, held on October 8 at Watersound Club’s Camp Creek Golf Course in Inlet Beach, raised $102,000 to benefit the Seaside School Foundation.
The tournament drew 144 golfers and numerous corporate and local business sponsors eager to participate. The funds will directly benefit Seaside School, Inc., Florida’s oldest operating public charter school, ranked as the top combination charter school in the state.
“We are so grateful for the impressive turnout and look forward to supporting the capital campaign to build this amazing facility. Two buildings are under construction, and we’re actively raising funds for the third, which will serve as a career and community center,” says Teresa Horton, executive director of the Seaside School Foundation, Inc.
The tournament’s first place winning foursome was Corey Lile, Steve Lile, Brad Martens, and J.P. Nixson, with a gross score of 55. Will Carlson, Joel Duncan, Erik Peterson, and Greg Shafer secured the first-place net score title with a 47.

New this year was the Drive for Good, where players paid Seaside School students to take their shot, and the Golf Ball Drop, orchestrated by Timberview Destin Helicopters. Of the 500 dropped balls, Marilyn Nagle won $1,000 by coming closest to the pin.
After the tournament, players attended a festive reception at the clubhouse, featuring a silent and nearly live auction showcasing valuable sports-themed packages and one-of-a-kind auction lots.
Golfers enjoyed food prepared by Camp Creek Golf Club and beverages generously donated by Libations/Bar Sponsor Barker Williams, PLLC and Shoreline Title; Beer and Beverage Sponsor The Lewis Bear Company; and Liquor Sponsor Driftwood Wine & Spirits.
“We are incredibly grateful to the amazing staff of St. Joe Company’s Watersound Club at Camp Creek and all of our generous donors, sponsors, and players whose contributions made this event such a success,” said host Tom Glavine, who is a member of the Seaside School, Inc., board of directors. “It’s magical when people with such tremendous buy-in surrounding a project and organization come together to make great things happen. There’s no stopping us. This impact is going to change our community for years to come.”
