An array of live music performances entertains crowds at the Grand Boulevard throughout the spring and summer
Cool, casual spring nights at Grand Boulevard were sweeter than ever this year. Sounds of the season included classic rock, funk, country, soul, and reggae.
Grand Boulevard has long provided locals and visitors with a place to gather, enjoy the outdoors, experience new art and entertainment, and make lasting memories with family and friends. The launch of the free seasonal concert series, Bands on the Boulevard, makes achieving these goals easier than ever.
12Eleven
This season’s series kicked off at the start of spring break, and continued every Thursday for six weeks, 6–8 p.m., making the Grand Boulevard Grand Park the perfect stage and backdrop of some of the area’s most talented and loved musicians. The spring line up included The Captain Midnight Band, 12eleven, Boukou Groove, Rive Dan Band, Will Thompson Band, and Josh Drake Band. Crowds enjoyed classic rock favorites from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, original tracks, a cool beach vibe mix of funk and reggae, and county classics.
Guests were encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chairs or beach blankets, pack up snacks or grab appetizers and dinner to-go from one of Grand Boulevard’s restaurants, and grab a front row spot to the show.
Along with soaking up the music, families and children played cornhole in the park or took on a family friendly game of giant lawn chess. The open-air event was the perfect mid-week entertainment for vacationers and locals.
Because the spring season quickly became a fan favorite, Grand Boulevard has announced a summer season line up for the talent to continue to impress.
River Dan
Mark your calendar, save the date, and make plans now to be at Grand Boulevard every Thursday night this summer. Bands on the Boulevard summer series will start with Dion Jones & The Neon Tears on May 21 and The Salty Strays on May 28. June also is jam packed with local favorites. Casey Kearney brings country rock to the Boulevard on June 4. The Motown sound of the Xcentrics is slated for June 11. On June 18, come hear the local sound of The Wildlife Specials. The summer series closes June with a bang as Cadillac Willy headlines the series’ last show on June 25. For a patriotic celebration, the Emerald Coast Theater Company entertains The Boulevard with a showstopping Patriot Gospel show on July the 2.
Whatever your music preference, the Grand Boulevard Bands on the Boulevard have something for everyone. This is a series you won’t want to miss.
