Bloom Into Beauty
Hair and makeup for spring events

Flowers bloom as the spring season along the Emerald Coast beckons residents and visitors alike to a bouquet of events.
Coming out of winter hibernation, you’re likely seeking a look that’s fresh, colorful, and possibly a bit unexpected. When mixing and mingling at events, a sure way to impress is with an updated look via spring-inspired hair and makeup.
Whether you’re grabbing fresh highlights and updated makeup or enlisting the expertise of a hairstylist or makeup artist, you’ll want to stand out this spring. We asked Brittany Sigler, owner of Destin Mobile Makeup Box, about trends to try out for your next event.
Q: What are some hair and makeup looks that you love for spring?
A: For makeup, the blush is the main attraction this season. It’s not just the accent; it’s becoming the staple for the entire look. Barbie-like pops of pink applied by blending upward, providing a more sculpted and lifted look for 2026. Also, a pop of glossy color on the lips without harsh lip lines is trending—plump and full. As for hair, the everyday trend is bouncy, voluminous curls like a blowout look.
Q: How would you style the hair and the makeup for a fun, whimsical daytime look to attend a music or art festival?
A: For a music or art festival, keep it natural and “lived in.” If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, amp that up by scrunching or letting it air dry with minimal manipulation for the most effortless style. For makeup, earth tones are key with a neutral eye, maybe even a pop of coral or orange to emphasize the warm tones of the season, along with a natural, glossy lip.
Q: How would you style the hair and the makeup for someone wanting a chic, trendy look for a wine and food festival?
A: For makeup, we’d suggest a more elevated eye look. A smudged liner, possibly a cinnamon or bronze with a natural shadow, intensifies the eyes without looking too heavy if outside. Pair this with a long-lasting lip stain or lip tint since eating and drinking are a must at these events. You want something transfer-resistant for your wine glass. As far as the hair, an elegant and fun party pony or half-up half-down hairstyle, both with soft waves, would be ideal. You are set for the day with minimal touch-ups required, but these styles do not look as formal as an updo.
Q: How would you style the hair and makeup for an elevated, glamorous look to attend a spring wedding or evening gala?
A: This is your time to shine. For the makeup, you want soft yet luminous skin: the lifted look of blush with less of a bronze contour. Smudged eyeliner, along with a swept, barely there wing, is nice. For the eyes, try the tone-on-tone trend using the same color for the eyes, lips, and cheeks. It’s a cohesive look that brightens the face, yet it’s soft and not overdone. For the hair, we are loving the sleek bun up-styles that showcase the face. For a fun and flirty approach, we suggest the ’90s piled-high updo, bringing some height and volume to the top of the head.
