Sinfonia Gulf Coast Presents “Jurassic Park in Concert”
The family-friendly season finale this May is 68 million years in the making!

Sinfonia Gulf Coast “redefines the symphony experience” once again with “Jurassic Park in Concert.” This epic adventure, 68 million years in the making, is set for Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Convention Center on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach.
Featuring visually stunning imagery and groundbreaking special effects, this epic, action-packed adventure pits man against prehistoric predators in the ultimate battle for survival. Sheer movie magic 68 million years in the making, “Jurassic Park in Concert” tells the story as never before—projected in HD with Sinfonia Gulf Coast performing John Williams’ iconic score live to picture.
“We are thrilled to cap our 2023–2024 season with this epic adventure,” said Sinfonia Gulf Coast music and artistic director Demetrius Fuller. “This is the perfect spring event to attend with family and friends. We’re ready to get the corn popping!”
Spanning over six decades, John Williams has excelled as a composer for film and the concert stage, epitomizing American musical prowess. He scored over 100 films, notably all “Star Wars” and early “Harry Potter” films. His partnership with director Steven Spielberg yielded Hollywood classics, and his TV contributions include iconic themes. Honored with numerous awards, including Oscars and Grammys, Williams is celebrated globally. As Boston Pops’ laureate conductor, his legacy endures, marked by groundbreaking compositions and prestigious accolades.
In his program note, Williams said this about “Jurassic Park in Concert”: “In his highly successful book, ‘Jurassic Park,’ author Michael Crichton enabled us to imagine what the return of the great vertebrates of 150 million years ago might be like. In his thrilling 1993 film adaptation, Steven Spielberg brought these fascinating and terrifying creatures to life, and in so doing, he captivated movie audiences around the world.
I greatly enjoyed the challenge of trying to tell the film’s story musically. And while we can luxuriate this evening in the magnificent sound produced by Sinfonia Gulf Coast as they perform the entire score live to pictures, it’s nevertheless tempting to imagine what the trumpeting of these great beasts of the distant past might have been like.”
Tickets to “Jurassic Park in Concert” are $30 to $55 per person. Discounts are offered for students and active-duty military with valid ID. You can purchase tickets online at SinfoniaGulfCoast.org or by calling the box office at (850) 460-8800.
