McCaskill & Company Expansion Blends Beauty and Innovation

McCaskill & Company has long been a premier destination for fine jewelry, offering customers a shopping experience defined by exceptional craftsmanship and heartfelt connection.
And now, the Destin store is elevating that customer experience with an elegant and deeply meaningful expansion.
Leading this new chapter is Carolyn Brigman, president of McCaskill & Company and daughter of founders Bill and Elizabeth Campbell.
“We bought the empty lot next to us for additional parking and began to think about expanding the building,” she said. “Once we opened that door of opportunity, all the ideas started to blossom.”
The expansion took shape over a three-year collaboration with Cherri Pitts of Studio C Architecture and Interiors in Birmingham and Grand Bay Construction out of Santa Rosa Beach. The result is a seamless addition that doubles the original building’s size to 10,000 square feet.
“It’s a beautiful space — from the natural stone sculptures and stone glowing walls to the custom mirrors — and we were just in awe and so grateful to see it all come together,” Brigman said.
One of the store’s newest features is a dedicated Rolex showroom, designed entirely by Rolex with components crafted in Switzerland and throughout Europe. Another new element is the David Yurman shop-in-shop. Additionally, for the first time, customers are able to look behind the scenes through viewing windows into both the watchmaker’s workspace and an on-site jeweler’s studio.
“It’s a neat experience to watch,” Brigman said. “This expansion really allows us to offer our customers more.”
Some of the expansion’s most distinctive features are also its most personal.
When customers walk through the front door, they will be greeted overhead by “Maple Dance,” a collection of delicate blown-glass maple leaves laced with silver and gold. The commissioned piece was created by artist Brit Deslonde of Glass Deer, a glassblowing studio on 30A.
The glass leaves are an homage to the Campbell family home in DeFuniak Springs, where their property was surrounded by maple trees.
“Inside the glass leaves are two hidden hummingbirds that represent my parents,” Brigman said. “The idea is that they will always be watching over the store for generations to come.”
The completion of the store’s new look is also something of a bittersweet milestone. Brigman’s mother, who was instrumental in shaping the expansion, passed away in February.
“She is reflected in all of it,” Brigman said. “It was the two of us working side by side every day, and she had a huge part in all the details we selected. We were very close to the end, and she just beamed with so much pride.”
To officially unveil the expansion to the public, McCaskill & Company will host a Grand Finale Celebration May 6-8 with trunk shows and champagne and charcuterie.
“We want every customer that walks in to feel special and cared for because we realize that they have chosen us to help them celebrate a special occasion,” Brigman said. “And we are just so grateful for that.”
