Dr. Farrugia began treating sleep disorders at his private dental practice in 2013 and has been diagnosing and treating TMD / TMJ for over 25 years. He joined TMJ & Sleep Center, Emerald Coast upon its founding. Along with Dr. O’Donnell, he is focused on helping patients achieve overall better health beyond just treating them for dental issues.

Dr. Farrugia has trained at the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Farrugia is currently seeking Diplomate status certification with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine which is the “gold standard” in dental sleep medicine.

Along with practicing digital restorative dentistry, TMD and dental sleep medicine, Dr. Farrugia is a nationally recognized speaker, teacher, author, and leader in digital dentistry and in medical billing by dental practices. He is highly skilled at utilizing advanced technologies such as CAD/CAM and 3D CT imaging to provide comprehensive, high-quality care.

Dr. Farrugia speaks to and trains dentists nationwide who want to advance their practices with digital (CBCT) imaging, digital restorative dentistry (including all CEREC procedures and materials, CEREC/Galileos integration, and 3D printing), and to successfully access medical benefits for their services.

Dr. Farrugia is a graduate of Emory University School of Dentistry in Atlanta, Georgia. He also trained at The Pankey Institute, an advanced dental education center for postgraduate behavioral and clinical knowledge backed by 50 years of experience. He has provided over 10,000 CEREC teeth restorations since 2000 and is a certified CEREC trainer (basic, intermediate, and advanced levels), including personal training at over 100 offices. Dr. Farrugia has been a featured speaker at the DentsplySirona 3D Summits since 2014. His teaching presentations include the following engagements: UMN School of Dentistry Continuing Education 2019; Chicago Midwinter 2009; Oregon AGD/OHSU 2019; American Academy of Craniofacial Pain Winter Meeting 2016; American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health Annual Meeting 2017; Florida Dental Convention 2016; and many more.
