Laser-Focused Dermatology Care
At Dermatology Specialists of FL & Aqua Medical Spa, expert practitioners and cutting-edge technology combine to grant patients clearer and healthier skin with long-lasting results.
Whether you need tattoo or body hair removal, or treatment for conditions such as rosacea, acne, or hyperpigmentation, laser therapies can safely and effectively target your skin’s needs to have you looking and feeling your best.
Brittany Cox, a nurse practitioner at Dermatology Specialists of FL & Aqua Medical Spa’s Panama City office is well-versed in treating all skin types and tones using BroadBand Light (BBL), V-beam and Pico lasers to address a wide range of concerns.
“People can be intimidated when they hear the word ‘laser,’ but I wouldn’t call these treatments painful,” NP Cox says. “I usually explain it feels like a quick rubber band snap. Depending on the area and the treatment, we offer topical numbing and occasionally injectables for tattoo removal.”
NP Cox frequently treats patients struggling with unwanted or persistent hair growth using the Sciton BBL laser for precise, targeted results. Common treatment areas include the face (to remove peach fuzz, mustache and chin hair) underarms, stomach, bikini area, and legs. These services are safe for all skin tones and, for some patients, produce immediate results.
“For hair removal, we recommend to have about six treatments spaced four to six weeks apart for the best results,” NP Cox says. “Because it’s semi-permanent, most patients come back every six months for a touch-up. Over time, patients typically see about an 80 percent reduction in unwanted hair, with noticeable changes in texture and thickness.”
The same six-treatment timeline applies to BBL therapy, which is highly effective for pigmentation from sun damage, age spots, redness, broken capillaries, and rosacea. By using heated light energy, BBL reduces melanin, redness, and visible blood vessels leaving skin smoother and more youthful.
“BBL can be done year-round, but in our area with so much sun exposure, many patients prefer to start in the fall or winter,” NP Cox says. “Results often appear right away and improve with each session. Because skin changes can reoccur, we suggest maintenance once or twice a year.”
Dermatology Specialists of FL & Aqua Medical Spa also offers the advanced tattoo removal. From small black script to large, colorful designs, the lasers break up pigment under the skin, which is then safely eliminated through the body. This process can make tattoos appear more than 90 percent faded, sometimes completely gone, with no scarring. Patients can then either cover the area with new ink or leave it clear.
Tattoo removal usually requires eight to 12 sessions spaced about a month apart, depending on the tattoo’s size and location. Results are both dramatic and lasting.
“Our credentialed providers can also combine different laser treatments in one visit if you have multiple skin concerns,” NP Cox adds. “Anything we can do to make someone feel better about themselves and improve their lives is a win for us and them.”
