With locations throughout the Florida Panhandle, Alabama, and Georgia, Dermatology Specialists and Aqua Medical Spa is one of the largest and most trusted dermatology practices in the Southeast.

Offering comprehensive dermatology to include everything from Mohs surgery to BOTOX, their skilled providers do everything from treating patients with skin cancer to the latest in anti-aging treatments.

“A patient may be seeing one of our dermatologists who is able to identify a concern pertaining to skin care, and they can refer them directly over to me,” said Maddison Hollendoner, an aesthetician at Aqua Medical Spa’s Watersound Origins office. “If I’m not able to see them that day, they are able to schedule an appointment fairly quickly. When it comes to designing a treatment plan and addressing aesthetic needs, we are able to work together and make sure every aspect of a patient’s care is covered.”

As an aesthetician in the office of double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon Dr. Jon Ward and Angela Pearson, CRNP, Hollendoner works with her patients to offer specific skin care solutions in order to achieve healthy complexions, often discussing at-home skin care routines and by providing custom treatments to suit their needs.

Hollendoner is also well-versed in the treatment of body sculpting through various, non-invasive treatments utilizing advanced technology. Aqua Medical Spa is the only practice in the Florida Panhandle to offer Emsculpt, a procedure which utilizes HIFEM technology to eradicate fat, build muscles, and tone the body.

“I like to call Emsculpt a lunchtime treatment because it only takes about 35 minutes,” Hollendoner said. “I attach a series of magnets that induce involuntary muscle contractions. We typically see up to a 16% increase in muscle mass and up to a 19% reduction of fat. During your treatment, you experience over 20,000 muscle contractions that are longer and stronger than what the body can produce on its own.”

Hollendoner, who has had this treatment done personally, said just one session was able to increase her endurance during workouts, and that visual changes typically appear after six treatments, which are done consecutively once or sometimes twice a week. This can be used to sculpt the arms, calves, thighs, abdomen, and glutes.

“We also offer CoolSculpting, a process which utilizes cryolipolysis (fat freezing) to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat,” she said. “We see up to a 30% reduction of fat in the area treated, and these results are permanent.”

CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment, but does offer a lifetime benefit of reduced fat cells in an affected area, as long as you maintain a healthy weight. Ideal clients are those who may already be on a weight loss journey, struggle with hormonal-related weight, are postpartum, or are affected by genetically influenced fat cell distribution.

CoolSculpting results begin manifesting after about six to eight weeks of these 35-minute treatments, with the final product coming to fruition in three months.

“I love helping people feel more confident in their skin,” Hollendoner said. “It takes a lot of courage to walk into an office and talk to a stranger about something you maybe don’t love about yourself. Getting to see these transformations that contribute to a better quality of life and happiness for an individual is something I find rewarding.”
