There’s a difference between eating on vacation and truly tasting a place. Along the Emerald Coast, that difference comes down to one thing: local. The kind where recipes are rooted in family, the fish was likely caught that morning, and the barista might remember your order tomorrow.

Skip the chains. This is your guide to locally owned cafés, coastal hangouts, and standout restaurants—from your first cup of coffee to your last bite at sunset.

DELICIOUS VIEWS

Come for the seafood,  stay for the sunset—tables  with a side of wow

On Okaloosa Island, Beachview Breakfast & Grill brings Gulf views to the morning table, serving up hearty breakfasts and casual coastal fare just steps from the sand—proof that great views aren’t reserved for dinner.

Just across the bridge in Fort Walton Beach, Bay Cafe French Restaurant offers classic French cuisine with a romantic perch overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay. Nearby, Ivy & Ale offers a different kind of view—lush, rustic garden dining that feels tucked away from it all, with greenery, soft lighting, and a relaxed, come-as-you-are charm.

From there, head east to Niceville where The Wharf pairs fresh seafood with sweeping bay views—especially magical at sunset.

Destin delivers no shortage of waterfront favorites. Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House remains a standout for its harbor views and Gulf-to-table menu, while The Back Porch keeps things classic with beachfront dining and its famed amberjack. Louisiana Lagniappe offers a tucked-away, refined setting with beautiful marina views and a menu that blends Gulf seafood with Creole flair. Right on the sand, Pompano Joe’s is a longtime favorite for casual  beachfront bites and colorful coastal energy. For a drink with altitude, Edge Seafood Restaurant & SkyBar offers elevated views to match its name.

Further east along 30A, North Beach Social brings a lively, toes-in-the-sand energy to bayfront dining, while Vue on 30A delivers a more refined Gulf-front experience with sweeping vistas and a menu to match.

In Seaside, Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant pairs fresh seafood with panoramic views of the idyllic town of Seaside and the Gulf.
