A Masterpiece Under the Oaks: The 26th Annual Chain of Parks Art Festival

Whether you’re an art aficionado or simply an admirer, LeMoyne’s Chain of Parks Art Festival has sights to behold. Ranked the No. 3 fine art festival in the nation (including No. 1 in Florida) by Sunshine Artist Magazine, the 2026 event will occur April 18–19 under the majestic live oaks of downtown Tallahassee’s Bloxham, Lewis, and Randolph “Chain of Parks.” The festival is free to the public and serves as a premier opportunity for visitors to experience and purchase unique works from over 170 nationally juried artists.

“The Chain of Parks Art Festival has become a treasured tradition,” says long-time committee member and former chair Kelly Dozier. “Its growth and national recognition are a testament to our community’s passion for art and culture.”

This year’s festival features watercolorist Curtis Whitwam as the cover artist. His signature “liquid light” style captures Florida’s wild ecosystems, with a special piece created to reflect Tallahassee’s cypress trees and rivers.

The weekend’s programming offers an immersive experience that extends into the community. In partnership with FSU’s Opening Nights, nationally recognized painter Noah Verrier will give a special presentation on Thursday, April 16, to kick off the weekend of festival fun. On Saturday at 2:30 p.m., visitors can witness a whimsical theatrical procession of larger-than-life puppets and masks envisioned by local artist Linda Hall and brought to life by musicians and community artists. To close out the festivities, on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., the Rickards High School Marching Raider Band will lead a celebratory procession through the parks, showcasing the talent of local Leon County students.

Families can enjoy the Children’s Park, hosted by The Apalachee Center in partnership with Leon County Schools, featuring interactive art studios and local culture booths with educational information. At the Chalk Art Oasis, a major festival destination, showcases four professional street artists who will create 3D anamorphic art on the pavement, along with a silent auction, refreshing snacks, and fun photo opportunities.

Beyond the weekend, the festivities begin early with the Garden Guardians upcycled sculpture exhibit in LeMoyne’s gardens from March 17 through April 17, concluding with a silent auction at the festival in the Chalk Art Oasis area. Between enjoying a weekend filled with non-stop live entertainment, community connections, and meaningful folk art, visitors can also savor culinary delights by local food vendors and refreshments at the McKibbon Hospitality Bar, featuring craft beer by Proof Brewing.

“Each year, this festival is a way to fill our community with the wonders of visual arts, cultural experiences, and live performances,” says festival director Powell Kay Kreis. “It remains a vital window into the culturally rich community of Tallahassee”.

The festival is produced by LeMoyne Arts, with funding support from presenting sponsor Mad Dog Construction as well as Visit Tallahassee, the City of Tallahassee, Leon County, and private donors. More information at chainofparks.com.
