Mara Fiorentino, M.D.
Dr. Mara Fiorentino is an outgoing and intelligent woman whose eclectic background makes her truly one-of-a-kind. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina she comes from Italian, Spanish and German-Polish descent. She attended medical school at Universidad de Buenos Aires Facultad de Medicina and then trained in neurology as an intern, and she was as resident in institutional, adult, pediatric and geriatric psychiatry. Dr. Fiorentino made a life-changing decision and immigrated to the United States in 1992 where she retrained at Bergen Regional Medical Center (affiliated with UMDNJ) in New Jersey. She continued to further her education through a fellowship at Columbia University in New York City and then went on to work for an impressive list of facilities including New York Presbyterian Hospital, The Office of Mental Health of the State of New York, Rockland Psychiatric Center, Mount Sinai Hospital Services and Lenox Hill Hospital. In 2007 Dr. Fiorentino moved to Destin, an area she is now proud to call home. She opened her practice in 2008 and continues to work in the same location at The Plaza where she is helping shape our community one patient at a time. Dr. Fiorentino is highly involved in the community, and also receiving the 2014 ÛÏWoman of the Year AwardÛ from the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW). She is a permanent staff consulting member at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast and an active member of the Caduceus Society since 2008. Dr. Fiorentino is also a donor to the hospital belonging to ÛÏThe Order of The CornetteÛ from the Sacred Heart Foundation, the Caduceus Society, Shelter House, Inc. and Children Advocacy Center. . Fiorentino’s approachable personality and the individualized care she provides set her apart from others in the mental health field.
