In February, the Arts & Design Society of Fort Walton Beach announced Michael Lunsford’s Grand Turk painting as the winner of the Viewers’ Choice award in the 65th Annual Beaux Arts Exhibition. And at the 2025 ArtsQuest Fine Arts Festival in May, Grand Turk the won Best in Show award.

Lunsford creates original acrylic paintings at his home studio in Fort Walton Beach. Originally from Michigan, he has always been inspired by the world as he sees it. His 30-by-40-inch Grand Turk acrylic painting on canvas realistically depicts a coastal scene he witnessed while visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands.

“I was struck by this scene on Grand Turk in person and happy that my interpretation connected so well with viewers,” Lunsford says. “This exhibition was full of beautiful work, and I am honored to win Viewers’ Choice!”
